Returning with Resilience – SP Jain welcomes students back to Dubai Campus

“Our students have shown immense resilience and learning agility, and their courage makes us want to go the extra mile and ensure that they have a great learning experience as they settle into face-to-face learning,” shared Bijal Oza (Global Director – Counseling & Coaching Center, SP Jain School of Global Management) as the School welcomed students back to Dubai campus on October 4, 2020.

SP Jain’s Dubai campus reopened after nearly seven months, aligned with the safety regulations put forth by the local governing bodies and the COVID-safe campus guidelines set by the School, to welcome more than 100 students from the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program (October 2020 and 2019 Intakes).

“The SP Jain community is proud to welcome our students back and the team is equally resilient to take on any new challenges the time has to offer,” said Ms Oza.

A Safe Return To Campus

Students and staff who attended Dubai campus on October 4, 2020, were tested negative for COVID-19 prior to arrival. Before entering the campus, students queued up outside the entrance, socially distanced and wearing a face mask, for their body temperature check with a thermal scanner. After temperature screening and recording, students headed to the Leadership Hall which had been set up to have socially distanced seating to accommodate students safely.

Students Share Their Experiences

How did our students adapt to the transition from virtual to on-campus classes while following the safety measures? Our BBA Year 2 students from the 2019 Intake share their experiences:

“My transition from virtual to on-campus learning has been smooth. I was quickly able to adapt to the ‘new normal’ and I’m enjoying my face-to-face class interaction.”

– Alvin Senna Anshi Dookhony (BBA 2019 Intake)

“I have spent almost four weeks on campus now and I feel socialising with people has helped me with the learning process, communication with our professors is very clear and the experience overall is very satisfying and refreshing. In my opinion, considering a student’s mental health, the learning experience and the ability to grasp things are better in the case of face-to-face classes. Talking about the safety measures, I feel safe to attend classes on campus. Social distancing is not only maintained between students but also between professors and students.”

- Stuti Taneja (BBA 2019 Intake)

The Steps Ahead

“Our students’ well-being and happiness is our top priority. We will be ensuring that they are safe and are following the protocols. Their learning outcomes will be monitored, and measures will be taken to ensure that learning experience is not compromised. The School also offers flexibility to those who wish to continue learning virtually as we have top-class facilities for online learning. Their emotional and psychological well-being is also our top priority and all our students are monitored for any extra support they may require,” shared Ms Oza.

Our Global Campuses

Besides our Dubai campus, face-to-face classes have also resumed at our Sydney campus from August 31, 2020, for our BBA 2017 Intake students and at our Singapore campus from October 26, 2020, for our BBA October 2020 Intake students. Our Mumbai campus is equipped to resume classes when the local governing bodies advise it is safe to do so aligned with the health, safety and travel regulations.

The SP Jain community continues to adapt, support each other and maintain a secure environment for our students to focus on their learning goals.

(Watch our video to learn about the safety measures implemented at our Dubai campus. Similar protocols have been put in place at each of our other campuses in Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney.)
