Academic experience

  • Several years of study of the Chinese language and modern Chinese economics
  • A year at Peking University which included academic study at its renowned China Center for Economic Research as part of his MPhil in Chinese Studies from University of Cambridge, UK
  • Eight years as a Museum Docent through numerous exhibitions at various museums and galleries in Singapore, including the Asian Civilisations Museum, the Singapore Art Museum and the Singapore History Museum (now National Museum)

Corporate Experience

  • Editor-in-chief of travel magazine Insight Guides (publishers of the largest collection of visual travel guide books in the world)
  • Director of e-Business for the international luxury resort chain Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts. In charge of the group's online marketing, website development and e-sales worldwide.

  • Recognised with 25 web awards for the Banyan Tree Group websites
  • Pioneer work in Corporate Social Responsibility through the conceptualisation and development of a ‘Green Imperative’ website, which won the following awards:

    • 'World's Leading Responsible Tourism Site' at the World Travel Awards
    • Best Responsible Tourism Site’ at the TravelMole Travel and Tourism Web Awards, UK
