What does it take to turn a simple walk into a meaningful community movement? For the SP Jain Global community in Singapore, the answer lay in shared purpose, inclusivity, and the belief that small collective actions can create real social impact.

As part of its 20-year milestone in Singapore, SP Jain Global hosted its first-ever Community Walkathon on 15th March 2026. What began as a wellness initiative evolved into a platform that brought together students, alumni, corporate partners, and staff, creating space for both connection and contribution.

At its core, the walkathon focused on promoting well-being while supporting a larger social cause. In partnership with HCSA Community Services, the initiative drew attention to the needs of vulnerable communities, including ex-offenders, single parents, and at-risk youth.

The walkathon was driven by the vision of Nitish Jain (Founder & President of SP Jain Group), whose continued focus on community engagement shapes the culture at SP Jain Global. His belief in integrating education with social responsibility was evident in both the scale and intent of the initiative.

The participation of Eric Chua, (Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Law & Ministry of Social and Family Development & Member of Parliament, Queenstown SMC) and Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi, (Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education & Ministry of National Development & Member of Parliament, Nee Soon GRC), added further meaning to the event. In particular, Dr Syed Harun’s completion of the 5 km walk while observing Ramadan stood out as a powerful demonstration of dedication and leading by example.

Beyond the event itself, the walkathon became a practical learning experience. Teams worked across functions to manage planning, communication, and on-ground execution, demonstrating how collaboration brings large initiatives to life.

Initiatives like the walkathon show how learning can extend beyond traditional settings. Aligned with broader goals such as health, inclusion, and community partnerships, the event also reflects how institutions can help shape more aware and responsible individuals.

Carrying the momentum forward

Encouraged by the strong response, SP Jain Global plans to make the Walkathon an annual flagship event in Singapore. Future editions will aim to deepen engagement, expand participation, and continue building a culture where community involvement is a shared commitment.
